Welcome to Tartan Heart Baby Quilts – With Love in Every Stitch.

I sign my baby quilts “with love in every stitch” because it’s the truth, there really is love in every stitch when you make a quilt for a new life.  This site is designed to help you find things that make it easy and inspire you, as well as help build your knowledge and get you excited about your next project.  From books on simple quick quilts to DVDs on advanced techniques, whatever you’re interested in you’ll find plenty of ideas, tips and even samples of quilts.

My love affair with sewing and fabric began when I was a small child making clothes for my toys.  My very kind parents bought me my very first sewing machine.  It made the waistcoats for my husband and his groomsmen at our wedding many years later and until recently was the only sewing machine I’d ever owned.  My obsession with patchwork and quilting took off when I was pregnant with my first child and I’ve finally upgraded to a sewing machine designed for a quilter.  You can find the very latest sewing machines made specifically for quilters here.

I’m currently deciding which quilt I should make for my brand new niece, Sienna . In a perfect life, there is always a new child to prepare a lovely quilt for.

As my grasp of math is almost non-existent I work in a very casual way.  I love using fabric from dresses my daughters have worn and even the shirt off my husband’s back!  But even with this love of scrap quilts you need tools and notions.  I’ve selected the ones I use and some of the ones I’d love to have.

I hope this site inspires you to create your own baby more quilt or to find that perfect gift quilt and I’ll add as many pictures of my own modest work as fast as I can make ‘em.
